01: How do I reserve a TravelWiFi Router?

You may make your reservation on our website – with the following steps

  1. Fill in the reservation form with your travel details and personal particulars.
  2. Make payment
  3. An order confirmation email with your booking details will be sent to your email address
Note: We do not have hidden costs. Kindly note that a processing fee of RM7 per booking will be collected and is non-refundable. Last minute booking via our call centre and walk-ins at our counters will incur a RM10 processing fee.

02: How do I collect and return the TravelWiFi device?

While making your reservation online, you are able to choose:

Self-Collection or Self-Return at any Travel Recommends booth located at:
  • KLIA
  • KLIA2
  • Penang International Airport
  • Johor Bahru office

Courier Delivery Nationwide
  • Your TravelWiFi device will reach you at least one working day before your indicated departure date.
  • For example, if the indicated departure date is 2nd Sept, the device will reach your indicated mailing address latest by 1st Sept.
  • For returns, our courier delivery partner will contact you directly to arrange a pick-up of the device from you.
  • The courier charge is RM20 each way.

03: Can I make last minute bookings?

For last minute bookings, please call our hotline at 1700819813 or WhatsApp us at +60 12-3350541 to check availability. Kindly note that last minute bookings will incur a RM10 processing fee per order.

04: I am travelling to more than one country. Can the TravelWiFi support multiple countries?

Yes. The following packages support coverage in multiple countries:

Europe (RM28/day)
  • Countries in Europe includes: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, Switzerland, Belgium, Czech Republic, Northern Ireland, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Herzegovina, Bosnia, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Russia, Ireland, Greece, Portugal, Vatican, Monaco, Luxembourg, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Malta, Ukraine, Albania, Romania, Estonia, Bulgaria, Belarus, Croatia, Slovenia, Cyprus, Lithuania, Latvia
Asia Package (RM38/day)
  • All Asia countries that Travel Recommends offer: Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Indonesia and Philippines
Worldwide Package (RM48/day)
  • All countries offered by Travel Recommends.
Please note:

If you choose only a single country, the TravelWifi device provided supports connectivity in that specific country only. For instance, the TravelWiFi router rented for Singapore is not suitable for use in Hong Kong.

05: Is it possible to rent a TravelWiFi for the countries that are not listed on the website?

Only countries listed on the website are available for TravelWifi device rental.

Travel Recommends is working to expand our Travel WiFi coverage in more countries to serve you better.

06: How is the rental fee calculated for the TravelWifi device?

The fee is based on the number of days travelled. You pay for the rental of the router instead of data consumption.

For instance, if your travel dates are from 1st Jan to 7th Jan, you are charged with 7 days of rental.

07: Is there any deposit required?

Yes, a deposit of RM200 will be collected upon payment and refunded 7 working days after the TravelWifi device is successfully returned.

08: How do I start using the Travel WiFi Router when I am abroad?

It’s very simple! Kindly see the following instructions:

  1. Turn off mobile data on your smart devices to avoid costly roaming charges.
  2. Turn off automatic notification updates to prevent excessive data consumption.
  3. Enable the WiFi function on your *smart device.
  4. Switch on the Travel WiFi Router.
  5. Search for the Travel WiFi Router SSID and select the network name on your smart device.
  6. Enter the password indicated on the Travel WiFi Router into your smart device.
  7. Get connected onto the internet!
*Smart device: mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc.

09: Is there a user guide on how to use the Travel WiFi Router?

Yes. A user manual is enclosed in every Travel WiFi Router pack to guide you.

10: What is the battery life of a fully charged-up Travel WiFi Router?

The average lifespan of a fully-charged up TravelWiFi Router ranges between 6 to 12 hours. This is an estimation as the battery life depends on the number of smart devices connected to the router, data consumption and the condition of the mobile signal.

11: What is the router's network range?

The network range is approximately 10 metres in radius without any obstacles.

12: Can a non-4G mobile device be used on the 4G router?

Yes. As long as the devices are Wi-Fi enabled, it can be connected to the TravelWiFi router.

4G refers to the connection speed that is being transmitted when the user is accessing the internet. Speed and connectivity varies across different device models.

13: If there are issues with the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi, can I troubleshoot it?

Methods to troubleshoot:
  • Try to restart the Travel WiFi Router or reset it by pressing the “reset” button at the corner of the router.
  • Alternatively, try to re-insert the SIM card and restart the travel router again.
  • If the problem persists, please take a photo of the router and WhatsApp our technical helpline at +60 10-3946177 indicating the issue.

14: Are there any penalty charges?

Late Return Penalty

A late fee of RM30/day will be imposed from the second day of the end of the indicated return date of the rental period for the following countries: Japan, South Korea, China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, India, Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, Canada and the United States of America.

A late fee of RM70/day will be imposed from the second day, after the end of the indicated return date of the rental period for European countries.

For example, your indicated return date is 5th Nov. If you return it on the 6th, you will not be charged a late penalty fee. You will only be charged from the 7th onwards.


Any cancellation of TravelWiFi booking will incur a cancellation fee of RM50 per device.

Accidental Loss

The charges for loss or damage are as follows:

  • WiFi router and SIM card: RM600
  • Power Bank: RM80
  • Carrying case: RM50
  • Converting plug: RM50
  • Other Accessories: RM25

Note: If you have purchased the insurance of RM30, you need not pay the penalty charge of cancellations, loss or damages to accessories and *TravelWifi device.

*Must be accompanied with police report as proof of loss.

If you do lose the Travel Pocket Wi-Fi, please make a police report in the country where you lost it and present the report to us as proof of loss when you are back in Malaysia.

15: What if the product or network has issues and I am unable to use it?

In the event where there are technical issues with the TravelWifi or is unusable, kindly contact us so we may check on the device condition and data usage. On a case-by-case basis after a data usage review, we will offer a RM90 service-guarantee compensation to our valued customer, or refund the Wifi rental cost based on the number of days it was unusable.
